Most of the planning for VM Day was being done by Mary, but we have not heard from her in a while. Rene tried emailing her, but so far without an answer. First of all, I really hope she is okay, and it is just work preventing her from following up on Voynich stuff. Either way, Voynich Manuscript Day is rapidly approaching, and I am still set to host it August 4th, from CEST 12:00pm-7:00pm. Just in case we are not able to reach Mary soon, I would like to schedule the events that will certainly happen. Since I was not involved too much in planning, I will need your help.

  • Please respond to this thread if you are planning to do something for VM day.
  • Did you already get a time slot? And if not, what is your preferred time slot? (Please provide the time you will need to present your research/music/art etc. We can then add some extra time for Q&A and buffer).
  • Do you know of any forum-external people that were committed and should be informed?

We will figure out a schedule in this thread. I will do two presentations myself (one about a research topic, one about the State of the Voynich poll), which I will fit into whatever time is left.
I was planning to send a link to my music composition to merri via private messages. Can I send it to you instead? It's not finished yet but it will be before August 4th.
Yeah, if merri hasn't showed up yet by the time you're ready, you can just send it to me.
Hi, Koen.

I'm down to present research.  I haven't got a timeslot yet.  Happy to go first or whenever.  In my submission, I said it would be 25 mins (+q&a) but if there can be flex, I would like to extend that since it seems a bit optimistic.
Hello Koen
  • I have a presentation for research.
  • No time slot given. Would prefer later to earlier, but no specific time.
  • I was told 25 minutes for presentation and 5 for Q&A. My talk is complete and timed at 20:15, so can flex down five minutes if needed. (I doubt there'll be many questions.)
  • All my materials (video, handouts) are ready to send, if/when they're wanted.
This would give us something like this for the presentations I have information on so far, to be completed with estimated durations. All times are CEST.

Tavie: 12pm to... ?
Patrick Feaster: 2PM to...?
Keagan: 3PM to... ?
Michelle: after Keagan, to...?
EMS: after Michelle

My presentations and two music presentations (Rene and Lissu) are to be fitted in. Cary will also present a video about an art piece, which can be fitted in whenever (she'll be with me in Austria). Who am I forgetting?
Your post #6 includes everyone that I am aware of.
Was there any serious mention of a cake, or other food-related subjects?
Maybe that was just my imagination...

For my part, all my material is ready now.

I would need about 20 minutes for a talk (slides are now finalised).

At the start of the day I would post a link to a web page that provides quite a few pieces of example music.
This can be used by everyone, offline, throughout the day (and after). A paper with more details than the talk will also be made available.

Due to my time offset I would appreciate a slot between 13:00 and 15:00 CEST.
Maybe 13:30, before Patrick?

Fine for me!
Updated rough schedule. Let me know if anything in this is inconvenient for anyone.

12:00-12:40 - Tavie (research presentation)
12:40-13:?? - Koen (research presentation)
13:30-14:00 - Rene (music presentation)
14:00-14:30 - Patrick (research presentation)
14:30-15:00 - Koen (State of the Voynich presentation)
15:00-15:45 - Keagan (research presentation)
16:00-16:30 - Michelle (research presentation)
16:30-17:00 - Emma (research presentation)

This leaves me with Cary's art video and Lissu's music, which I would like to reserve to be played whenever a larger gap occurs. This will give me and the speakers quite a bit of flexibility. If no gap occurs, they can be played after Emma's presentation.
