The reason is trickery. The VMs creator is like a carnival magician and we are the audience of bumpkins. And what this applies to is a seemingly immersive perspective into a growing set of historical elements and events from the VMs artist's era that are being recovered and recognized by various investigations. The problem that inhibits the recognition of these historical connections is the use of intentional trickery. Trickery is finding the relevant language. Trickery is presenting clear similarities of structure despite differences, intentional differences, in appearance. The intentional differences are created through the combination of an unexpected pairing of historical elements, along with other examples of ambiguity and deception. Whether the missing pages would bring in any way the breakthrough in the Voynich research can be speculated idly. I would rather assume that they are random pages that somebody has taken out to try to decrypt the VMS at some point.
