The way I think of it is this:
A bifolium is a sheet of parchment folded down the middle to make 4 "pages"
A quire is several of these stitched together to make a "chapter"
Quiremarks are the labels on the quires 1 2 3 4 ...
(Others more experienced may dispute this)
