Thank you for all these thoughts. It does seem there are still possibilities, especially given the likely loss of opportunity with the obsession with Bacon during the VM early history of being re-discovered.
I agree that the Inquisitor's imagination was worse than anything that was likely there in reality -- but let's be honest, with its non-conventional imagery, it is a miracle that the manuscript made it through all the times in history it could've have been burned (obviously not an original thought -- but I think it is instructive to keep reminding myself about that).
I do greatly appreciate the continued work to understand where the VM was during its history -- at the least it expands the provenance and at the most it could result in big dividends!
