Question: Are there examples in the VMs plants that would correspond if the leaves were painted blue?
There aren't any VMS plants that jump out at me as being like the Saz leaves, but it depends how broadly one wants to define a decorative leaf.
I don't see any plant connection to the VM either.
Here pure optics is in demand.
This style also exists in Portugal. Not only the tiles from the 8th century, also plates and other.
