If it's irrelevant to modern civilization, then the chance is even less that anything about cells is found there. To discover the cells' existence, one at least needs a microscope. I don't know any extinct civilization with a microscope in possession.
Anton. You know the theory of "guided panspermia"? With the further process of monitoring and intervention in the development of "biomass". I do not really want to come from apes.
There's a good gnosiological principle that entities should not be multiplied beyond necessity. Whenever the VMS can be explained without involvement of guided panspermia, Ockham's razor will prefer that.
